Hi Darren, the feedback to us has been SO POSITIVE! The story you told was riveting. Your performance amazing. Giving of your time after each performance so generous. Thank you so much for making the weekend a truly memorable occasion. Best wishes for your hectic year ahead. Alan, Cathy, Jasper & Jacoa Bailey
Peace train is not just a tribute show...it is a world class narrative that is uplifting and musically astounding...Paul Amos Coffs Harbour
Thank you so much for an amazing concert!!! I had no idea it would be that amazing!!! You are truly brilliant!!!
Hi Darren, thank you for bringing your much loved show to our intimate little venue here in Coffs Harbour. I can’t recall the last time there were 2 standing ovations on the one day. So congratulations, Coffs audiences absolutely adored your show, you weaved Cat Stevens back into our hearts. We feel very privileged to have been a part. Thanks for also being so pleasant to work with. Best of luck with your future endeavours and hopefully we’ll see you back in the future. Kind Regards Natalie
Dear Darren, Just wanted to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed your show at the Jetty Theatre in Coffs Harbour, and enjoying your Peace Train CD. Many, many thanks. Kind regards Mary & Ken Buckley
Far out Darren Coggan. Your show at the Jetty Theatre last night went off. Thanks for an excellent show.
Hi Darren Absolutely blown away by your afternoon performance as was my 14 year old daughter. We were dead centre 2nd row. You are welcome in Coffs anytime! Your musicianship is sublime. Thanks for a very memorable afternoon for father and daughter. Gary Orange
Thank you Darren Coggan for a great show you done today it was so lovely to hear you sing and the man who played the piano was so good to hear him played. Darren you are such a lovely thank you for the great show Peace Train in colfs harbour
Saw Darren Coggans Peace Train concert on the life of Cat Stevens, my wife Penny and I have been blown away by his talent and the way he portrays Cat's life story. Absolutely brilliant show and a first class performance. Also saw Darren again with Michael Fix at Djangos bar in Marrackville this week and another amazing performance and cannot talk highly enough about his talent! We would love to see him in the UK he would be a great success.
Best tribute I have seen!
FIRST TIME TO HEAR YOU AT MOUNTIES, I WAS SO TAKEN BACK WHEN I HEARD YOUR PERFORMANCE .... WOWOWOW YOU ARE REALLY A BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING PERFORMER .... GOD BLESS YOU ... CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU AGAIN XXX
Hi Darren Thank you for such a fabulous show in Belmont on Saturday night. My husband and I, as well as my daughter and son in law, can’t speak highly enough of you and the show. Even my boss, who happened to be randomly at my table, is humming Peace Train this morning. Thank you and may you have continued success. Cheers, Anne
Darren Coggan is awesome. Loved loved loved the show at the Astor in Perth tonight. Thank you so so much for this awesome outing. Love you.
I attended one of Darren's concerts in Auckland where he held the audience spell bound with his music and the story he was telling, if you closed your eyes and listened you were hearing The Cat, simply magic.
Brilliant show to a full house at The Capitol Theatre in Tamworth this arvo! Fabulous entertainer! Thanks Darren & your amazing Pianist!
Darren was brilliant , what a show, I wished I had taken my son (22) and daughter (18) ....they will be there next time as will many of my friends. The whole concept of telling Yusuf's (Cat) life story and songs absolutely outstanding.
Hi Darren, Thank you for a great show on Saturday night. I shared the evening with my 23 year old son as he had never heard any of the Cat Stevens songs. I loved the way it was presented and such a tribute to an amazing man. You are a very gifted man and we are fortunate to have seen your show. Keep it up. Regards June
Absolutely brilliant show. I sow it years ago at Parramatta Riverside. Please, please, please bring the show up to Newcastle.
Friends saw your show in Brisbane June 2015; we flew from Sydney to Auckland last September to see the show because our friends raved about your performance. For us it was a blast from our youth and we all enjoyed it so much we're repeating the experience on 13 Feb - our friends are flying from Brisbane so we can all relive the story again!!! The only thing that would enhance the performance, particularly for my husband Graham, would be a rendition of Bitter Blue!!!!! Really looking forward to second time round!!! Kim
Mate I went to your show at the Capitol last night and just wanted to say that was absolutely phenomenal. You're a genius. Brilliant guitar and if I closed my eyes you were Cat! Seemless performance. My 10, 9 (and soon 7) year old boys have just started learning guitar and I now need to educate them on cat Stevens so I can take them to one of your peace train concerts. Anyway, I was definitely one of the standing masses at the end of the concert and I know how much that meant to you, and i can attest it was totally heartfelt by all of the audience - congratulations. Ps I love your love of family - something else we share. Will definitely see you again. Cheers mate Kym.
Your show was incredible! We all enjoyed every minute, the story, the songs and the show. Please come back to the Laycock theatre, Gosford! I'll make sure the theatre is filled.
Mindblowingly awesome. Please go to UK so I can buy tickets for my parents ...and come back to WA - I would love to see you again!
“Dear Cat Stevens That was a pretty cool ruse you almost pulled off last night. Pretending to be an award winning Aussie country singer called Darren Coggan, even setting up a website in his name, to do what you do best, to bring your music to adoring fans in the most unassuming and entertaining way possible without seeking any kudos. What better way to do that so that people got to enjoy the most important thing – the music of Cat Stevens. But none of us were fooled. We closed our eyes and your voice was the same as it is on your CD’s – you haven’t changed a bit. And it was a cool angle too, narrating your life story in the third person – brilliant. So yep – thanks for bringing your show to Auckland and for giving some folks who wouldn’t otherwise have had the opportunity, the chance to witness the music of one of the world’s most talented singer songwriters.” Seriously Darren, that was one out of the bag – thanks so much for a most amazing night. Honestly, if we didn’t know better, that had to be Cat Stevens up there on that stage last night! J Best always Russell
Have seen Darren twice now and keep checking back here to look for future concerts. Would happily go every week. Darren can you PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! bring your show to Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. The Belmont 16 Foot Sailing Club is a fantastic venue with a huge auditorium and I would back myself for a sell out gig just by word of mouth. We would be so privileged for you to bring your Peace Train to the Lake.
A very special event. Darren was an engaging and enthusiastic performer and the show was well put together and the music was top quality. Our show in Perth was just Darren himself and a pianist which gave it an intimate quality.
Saw you last night at panthers great show .we will have to look out when you do other shows as I said great night
What a great night at the Evan Theatre Penrith Panthers last night 18-7-2015. Close your eyes and be taken back to Cat Stevens. Darren was superb as Cat. Just go and see this performer and you will be mesmerized ''
WOW !! The Geelong show was fantastic. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Thankyou Darren , loved the music & story and hope we get to see you again.
Absolutely Brilliant. Have seen the show now 4 times. Would go again anytime. Well worth seeing
We saw the show in Adelaide last night... the show was brilliant, and no surprise to receive a standing ovation at the end. I can't wait to see it again...come back soon Darren!
This guy is BRILLIANT!!!!! Big fan of Cat Stevens since the 70s & this Coggan guy is UNBELIEVABLE! No, I'm not related to him. Will there be shows in Sydney? Please let me know.
We saw the show at QPAC, Brisbane on the infamous night of the fire alarm evacuation and Darren's impromptu street performance while we waited to go back in. I have nagged Darren to bring the show to NZ and he is, on 12 September in Auckland. We'll be there and can't wait - this is not a show to be missed! ADRIAN CARR
This show by this artist is magic. I saw it at The Casula Powerhouse in Sydney a while back and have been waiting to catch it again. If you haven't seen it, get your tickets. You won't be disappointed!
Thank you so much Darren for bringing the beautiful sounds of Cat Stevens to Cessnock, NSW. Both my dad and I were in awe of you. We saw Yusuf in Sydney a few years ago and it will go down as one of the best concerts i have ever seen. You did him proud and we felt that we could just close our eyes and it was like the concert all over again. Loved bopping along to all the classics and hearing such personal stories about his life and music- such an eye opener ! loved meeting you after the show as well. I hope the Peace Train stops in Cessnock again in the future. Peace be with you! Whitney
Wow Darren, We thoroughly enjoyed your show last night in Ballarat. We were expecting it to be another singer doing Cat Stevens covers. It was so much more... You not only sang his songs with such sensitivity, you expressed Cat Stevens life with such feeling. You are a gifted musician playing your guitars as well and we feel so fortunate to have watched you. You have brought back such wonderful memories of a bygone era. Thank you and peace be with you! Patrice and Chris.
Hi Darren, I had the pleasure and privilege of attending your performance of Peace Train on Saturday night. What a great show! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed your performance and the whole Peace Train experience. Your telling of Cats’ life story was fantastic and your honest rendition of his music was a great trip back in time to my teen years! PS heard you on ABC radio and your impromptu performance of ‘Moon shadow’ made me jump online and book tickets following the interview! Congratulations and look forward to seeing you in Darwin again! Peace and Happiness to you and your family. Kind Regards, Martin Gore
Hi Darren, A quick note to again thank you for an inspiring Peace Train at Launceston’s Country Club, we were blown away. I saw Cat Stevens in (circa) 1972 around the time of Catch Bull at Four and he came across as if he was a friend singing and playing in someone’s lounge room. Your delivery of both songs and anecdotes brought back more than fond memories of that time. I remember standing to applaud Cat Stevens at the end of his show until my hands were sore - and don’t think I’ve done that since - until your Peace Train last Friday. Cheers, Michael
Awesome show, went with the perception of thinking it was just another cover artist who would sing a few songs and thats all. BUT, this is a show and if you close your eyes during Darren's vocals, it is like hearing Yousef singing. The history of the show is accurate, having heard the tales from "Behind the Music". Darren is great, his voice is like a babbling brook, peaceful and melodic. He is a natural story teller and fantastic guitarist. If you get a chance to go see this show, do so. You will not regret it.
Darren, saw you last night at the Theatre Royal, fantastic performance! You did Cat Stevens proud... but more than that, as a Muslim, I was so impressed at your sensitive handling of his conversion, alhamdulillah! Thank you brother, Jon
Hi Darren My son and I were at your Devonport show (Feb 26th) and were absolutely blown away by your incredible talent. It was hands down the best tribute show I've ever seen (and I've been to many). It may sound bizarre but we both thought you actually sounded better than the real 'Cat' - who we saw in concert a few years ago in Melbourne. The way you combined the wonderful songs with his fascinating life story made it such a unique show and, at the end, I could easily have sat through it all again! Thank you for sharing your gift. It was one of the best nights of my life! Best wishes Sylvia Berger (Penguin, Tasmania)
the most uplifting show ever. Congratulations on such a wonderful performance. You had the audience in the palm of your hand from beginning to end. The pianist needs to be recognised more for his amazing work.
I first saw you at the Opera House what felt like ages ago and I was really moved by your performance. I was so impressed by how you sound like Cat Stevens and your stage presence. I closed my eyes at one time just to listen to you (hope that was ok). I walked away with a smile on my face and hope in my heart you would continue that show. Well, wasn't I stoked to read you were coming to The State Theatre! I bought tickets as soon as I could, and included extras for my youngest daughter, Arwen, who is ten years old, and my husband, Nick. I watched my daughter's face when you walked out and started singing Moonshadow - well her mouth opened and her eyes went wide - she looked at me gobsmacked and said, "oh my God, he does sound like Cat Stevens". She continued to stare at you, absorbed with you, and then she realised she was enjoying herself, her head was bopping to the music, she was singing along with the songs and tapping her feet. I knew she was now a fan too. After all, she jumped up and was almost first to her feet with the standing ovation. Then my hubby kept saying it was fantastic and he is now officially converted to not being a Cat Stevens fan per se, but a Darren Coggan fan! During interval he went and bought me a CD of yours. So again I thankyou for playing it all again. Of course I still love Cat Stevens and I envy your meeting with him in person, but honest to goodness you are excellent.
Saw this show at the State theater last night and BOY what a show, one of the best I have ever seen, Darren put so much energy into his performance and he had great back up instrumentalists that it made for such a spectacular show that he had the audience up on their feet with a standing ovation at the end. Thank you Darren for a great night, and congratulations, well done
I took my mum to the show last night, she has long been a Cat Stevens fan and thanks to her, his music epitomises my childhood. What an amazing tribute to an incredible man - Darren and his band were a class act, if I shut my eyes I would have believed it was Cat/Yusuf himself. Such an inspiring and entertaining evening - thanks Darren & Co.
Hi Darren. Fantastic show last night . Best seats ever. Loved it and must see it again. Thank you. Long live the Cat. Cheers
Hi Darren We went to your "Peace Train - Cat Stevens Story" concert in Perth this year and absolutely loved every bit of it. Just couldn't believe that if we closed our eyes you sounded exactly the same as Cat Stevens. In fact, there were many songs that we thought you actually sounded better that Cat Stevens, especially Lady D' Arbanville. We now listen to the music with greater interest and understanding now knowing the stories behind the songs that you told with such ease and sincerity. I have just booked for your August concert in Perth as a surprise to my husband. Keep up your great work in giving so many people such an enjoyable experience and treasured memories.
We had a most brilliant afternoon at your concert 3.08.2014 playhouse melb with the Cat Stevens tribute...the musicians were all so brilliant with demeanor & talents and your portrayal and narrative was a most wonderful story of a life! thankyou so much keep up the good work & brilliant...standing ovation was well deserved deb & pete stallard geelong vic
Hi Darren Just wanted to congratulate you on your performance last Saturday in Melbourne. It was absolutely brilliant. My brother and I love the 'cat' and you just nailed it. We've cringed at a number of cat imposters over the years but your show just filled in the gaps with the most amazing renditions and stories. I bought your CD which will be my 'go to' music in the car for the next few weeks. Can I also say you came across as very humble and respectful of the great man which just added to the quality and authenticity of a great entertaining show.
Peace Train: The Cat Stevens Story is a must-see for all Cat Stevens fans. Darren Coggan’s innate ability to personify, Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) is uncanny and his story telling is spellbinding. From the moment Coggan opened at The Playhouse in Melbourne with 'Moonshadow', he effortlessly held the audience captive to the very end. Coggan remarkably sounds like Cat Stevens and if you closed your eyes at any point throughout the performance, you could have easily imagined it was Steven’s himself serenading you. Interwoven between the songs Coggan spoke of Stevens' accomplishments and hardships. Although I had some knowledge of Stevens' past, I left with a greater understanding of the man who sang about peace and tolerance. Coggan was hypnotic as he spoke of Stevens' battle with tuberculosis. Like many survivors of the deadly disease, Stevens' came away from it feeling inspired and thus changed the direction of his music. Later Stevens' converted to Islam and gave himself over to philanthropy. His fans were devastated and struggled to understand why he gave it all away. Coggan evoked emotion with each note and helped the audience connect with Cat Stevens on a deeper level. ‘The First Cut Is The Deepest’, ‘Morning Has Broken’ and ‘Oh Very Young’ were performed beautifully, yet ‘Sad Lisa’ and ‘Peace Train’ stole the show and garnered Coggan and his band resounding cheers. An enjoyable evening and well worth seeing for all Cat Stevens and peace - loving fans.
Absolutely loved it, Darren Coggan was brilliant with a great band. Moving show and great music. Thank you for a great afternoon.
Peace Train – the Cat Stevens Story – is more concert than tribute show, more impression than impersonation. Apart from the cheesecloth shirt, Darren Coggan makes no attempt at capturing Cat Steven's tousled-haired doe-eyed appearance. But give him a guitar and a song to sing and it's another matter altogether. From Stevens' first appearance in 1964 at London's Black Horse Inn to his final appearance as the Cat in December 1979, Darren Coggan channels the great man every time he opens his mouth to sing. And sing he does. 25 – count 'em – of Cat Stevens' greatest hits were played on opening night to an adoring audience of baby boomers remembering their days in the old school yard. Coggan's low-key entrance on stage sets the scene for what is to come: two and a half hours of Cat Stevens' hits interspersed with a re-telling of his bio by a man whose sweet and true voice could have belonged to the artist formerly known as Steven Georgiou (now Yusuf Islam). His backing band are more domestic animal than party animal – more tabby than cool cats – but what they lack in stage presence they make up for in musicality. By show's end they were really beginning to purr. The audience is taken on a journey that starts at the Moulin Rouge restaurant in London and ends up somewhere in the Middle East, by way of America, Brazil and even (briefly) Australia. It's a nostalgia trip and a fun musical ride. So hurry up and hop on board the Peace Train at the Arts centre Playhouse – the season ends Sunday August 3. Review by Elizabeth Quinn Weekend Notes
Last night I had the pleasure of experiencing Darren Coggan and Co’s production PEACE TRAIN The Cat Steven’s story at the prestigious Playhouse Theatre at Melbourne Art Centre. This production is polished and enchanting. Beautifully synchronised music, song, story and movement produce outstanding performances by Darren and is accompanying band. Darren Coggan is a powerhouse of talent with infectious enthusiasm. Through song and storytelling he transported me through time and space to Soho London in 1966. I found myself a fly on the wall of 18 year old Steven Demetre Georgiou aka Cat Stevens in his red bedroom, baring witness to the creation of a budding Rock Star. And so it was as Cat’s story unfolded, manifesting vivid imagery that felt authentic. Above and beyond is the soulful and insightful lyrics and music of Cat Stevens, sung in perfect pitch by Darren Coggan who along with his fellow performers commanded a standing ovation on opening night. This is a magical story and entertaining show that is really worth catching. Review by Kerrie Pacholli Toorak Times
Hi Darren, saw Peace Train just now and wanted to let you know the audience was blown away by how spot on your singing voice is to Cat Stevens' timbre, simply amazing!! I closed my eyes and was there at a Cat gig in the 70's, most impressive. Thankyou, keep it up!
I attended the show on July 30th 2014. My dad had bought tickets for my mum, who had to travel back to the UK for an emergency so I was fortunate enough to fill her place. I like Cat Stevens, but have never made a real effort to listen to his music (particularly as being 20, he wasn't a part of my generation and was more someone I've grown up with in the background). Boy has that changed! Darren Coggan was incredible, certainly deserving of the standing ovation at the end. I highly recommend this show both to Cat Stevens fans and non Cat Stevens fans! Coggan is very charismatic and a fantastic performer, supported by some wonderful musicians. I'd go and see if again!
"I shut my eyes and the man himself was there, full accolades to Darren, absolutely fantastic. For those young and old, you need to embrace this. The story and music you told and sung captures the life journey of the most influential artist ever to have been born. You completely deserved the standing ovation..." Please support this tremendous artist, you will not believe the experience.
I saw the show in Caloundra last night and was blown away. I'm not even a cat Stevens fan but Darren Coggan is such an amazing performer it didn't matter ....would highly recommend to anyone .
Saw the show last night in Gympie, wonderful. just wonderful. will see you next time in Gympie. the young man on piano was great too. l didn't realise how much l didn't know about Cat Stevens. until your show. thanking you denise and bernie. 25/6/14
Great show at Rockhampton on Saturday Darren! I think everyone would have been singing in the car on the way home.
Rockhampton show: You turn up hoping for a reasonably authentic "tribute" performance of one of your favourite musicians from a performer who is unknown to you. What you get is a breathtakingly accomplished, multi-layered interpretation of the life and work of Cat Stevens, that lacks nothing from having been achieved with three guitars and a talented pianist. Darren apparently does this with a band as well. It's hard to imagine how it could be any better with a band. The acoustic performance was simply brilliant. A flawless and inspired performance that truly deserves to be known internationally for it's excellence. I need to buy this guy's own albums.
Last night I had the pleasure of attending this spectacular performance in Proserpine. My husband had previously see the show in Melbourne and wanted to share it with me, so we drove 3 hours each way to attend, on a school night!! I'm embarrassed to say I'm no 'Music Trivia' Queen, pretty much musically challenged, it's nice but wouldn't describe myself in any way obsessed or incredibly passionate about it. Needless to say I didn't really know what to expect and wasn't overly excited, not sure I even knew what Cat Steven's sang (My bad). OH MY.........., THE BEST DATE NIGHT EVER!! I had goosebumps for most of the show, and a complete inability to sit still and not rock out to the music WOW WOW WOW!!!!! I can't recommend this show highly enough!!!!!! The three hour drive home went so quick as we re-lived all the highlights and discussed the amazing life of Cat Stevens and the brilliance of Darren Coggan's entire performance and Cecil Fox on piano. (Chills!!!) WOW WOW WOW!!!!!! Thankyou for introducing me to his amazing life, a brilliant show and for thoroughly exceeding my expectations on 'date night'... It was an absolute pleasure to shake your hand afterwards Darren! I would definitely go again when the opportunity arises, a wonderful experience!
This thread master weaves a glamorous garment indeed. Deserved of our standing ovation and more. The vibrant passion in which he embraces his performance rivals the greatest performers.
Outstanding. Darren well and truly earned the standing ovation he received after the Cairns show last night. Darren made this performance his own, inter-weaving the story of an iconic composer /musician/icon with near flawless and moving renditions of Cat Stevens iconic songs. Cut back, stripped and simple in its presentation, Darren Coggan's Peace Train The Cat Stevens Story is something that all Australians should be proud of This is a performance not to be missed. Well done mate Bryan
Hi Darren, I had the good fortune to go to your Darwin show recently. Throughout your wonderful performance I heard several comments all to the effect that you were better than Cat Stevens. High praise indeed. Thanks again for coming to Darwin, I hope it's not too long before we see you in the Top End again. Debbie Southwell
I'm a run of the mill Cat Stevens fan. Not mad about him but like some of his stuff. After the performance last night, I've now got three albums. Darren you were simply fantastic! The show is enlightening and extremely entertaining. Humorous in parts, very we'll put together and the key is simplicity. 1 man with three guitars, a pianist and a little mood lighting. If you closed your eyes, it would be very easy to believe that Cat Stevens was on stage. Your voice is amazing and guitar work superb! Thanks for bringing your show to the top end!!
Best show I have seen in a long time amazing just like listening to a cat cd well worth seeing thanks for coming to Darwin
Dear Darren, Thank you for your Geraldton Peace Train concert. We travelled from Mandurah to see you again and wow what a fabulous evening of Cat Stevens! You are inspirational and have the most incredible voice
Thank you that was awesome, truly entertaining and a great performance at DEC thank you for coming to Darwin xo
The best concert I've been to this year and last year for that matter. I closed my eyes and Cat Stevens was right there singing to me. I was so overwhelmed by this wonderful performance I got in the car and sobbed. Thankyou so much Darren. You brought back some beautiful and amazing memories. X
WOW What a fantastic show my family and I have seen in Port Hedland last Night, we loved it, this is a must see for anyone that loves Cat Stevens.
I saw the show in Port Hedland and it is just unreal loved it what a great job, Darren was amazing, most impressed and well worth seeing, thank you very much for a great night and coming to Hedland. I did have one request, I wish I could have got you to sign the CD I bought :0) Love your work X X
Peace Train tonight with Darren Coggan and his very talented pianist was amazing, Darren put his heart and soul into the performance, his singing was fantastic, the songs were brilliant, and the memories came flooding back. I left the theatre in tears of happiness! BRAVO :)
Cannot give enough praise to you on the amazing performance i witnessed tonight! What a credit to the man behind the music!! Thankyou so much for a thoroughly unforgettable show!! Well deserving of the standing applause you recieved!! Best wishes on the rest of your tour and for those yet to watch it....your all in for a treat!!! Enjoy :-)
There are no words to describe this show. WOW!! Anyone yet to see it, it is superb. The songs intertwine perfectly with the storytelling. Please come back to Mandurah again soon! xx
This was an amazing show. Darren Coggan delivered a superb show at Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. I was enthralled throughout by Darren's voice, the story and the passion. It was an uplifting experience. Thankyou for this outstanding experience .
He was stunning. I hadn't even known about it but I took a ticket from someone who couldn't go and loved every second of it. He really captured an essence.
Went into the Hopgood Theatre not knowing what to expect and was treated to a memorable musical experience. It was not just two people on a stage it was a collective experience shared by audience and performers. Darren is a talented and experienced showman and it shows.
Saw your concert tonight in Werribee. I had already seen it previously in Wollongong when you first started out with the Cat Stevens show. I have since moved to Victoria but could not let it pass without seeing it again.. You just get better and I wish you all the best in your career. Best Wishes Robyn Howe.
Hi Darren, The show was so fantastic, I really loved it played acoustically (as did everyone I saw there). I saw friends in the audience with their teenager children, and the teenagers loved the show as much as everyone else did. It is very special, & I hope it keeps travelling for a long time yet. It's also a great gift you have, the music is beautiful (I really love that lyric [something like] "I danced on the Devil's lake, I'll never make that mistake, again" It's a great show Darren, all the best & it was so fantastic to see this performance. Kind regards & best of luck, Ann Pulbrook :-)
G'day Darren, I had the privilege to be at your concert at Warragul on Saturday night. Thankyou. I was the old bloke in a red shirt in the third row with tears on my cheeks. I'm not normally emotional but you plucked a string mate. Cat was with me during every joyous moment and and every trauma in my late teens/twenties. Your comment that a song can evoke memories is so true. Graeme Wilson Fan for life.
Hi Darren, Just a quick note to say thanks for a great concert/show on Friday night at Werribee that has stayed at the front of my mind since. I was seated in the front row with my daughter ( we live an hour away in Whittlesea) and we both had a marvelous time. Whilst we were both a little younger than some of the other die hard fans there (I'm 52 and my daughter is 16) the Cat has certainly been a mainstay in our musical rotation for years. I used to play in an acoustic trio in pubs during my early 20's and we did a high proportion of Cat numbers over the years. That is probably what really started my appreciation of his artistry as up until then I had known only a couple of numbers. Having learned to play a few songs it propelled him into the realm of my top three performers (Deram stablemates Moody Blues and Prog rockers ELP round out the bunch). I cannot give you enough compliments on the quality of your performance and the musicianship you and your pianist displayed. It almost inspired me to come home and dust the cobwebs off my old 12 string. Maybe this weekend. Your song choice and the way you wove them into Steven's life story was enthralling. Thanks again and I hope to see you perform somewhere else again soon. Kind Regards Shane
Hi Darren, Just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you. The feedback from your show has been nothing short of spectacular. Staff and patrons alike are just raving about the show and what a lovely person you were. Congratulations and thank you for coming. I hope we can welcome you back to Bendigo soon.
Mate, just back from your Laycock Theatre show.Wend and I are life long fans of Cat. You brought a tear to our eyes, your voice is uncannily similar and your interpretation is faultless. Thank you for reconnecting us to Cat. And BTW we are listening to Balancing Act and loving every moment. You have a wonderful talent. R&W Thanks again.
Wow man my wife and I went to your Show last night and you took us on a Fabulous journey back in time, i have beeen to many shows and concerts before and even seen the Mersey Four but left the shows in the past still wanting something. Last night we found it in you.You told a Fabulous story of one of the music legends of our time Brother and you did it so well we are so pleased our kids brought tickets for us to attend your Show i couldn't wait to buy your CD and it is fairly getting a right royal flogging at the present time you have brought back so many memories to us that we feel we are now solid Darren Coggan Fans God bless you for your love of what you do because my friend you do it so bloody good love your work and we will be waiting till the next time you are up this way. Thank you for taking us on the journey and sharing your TALENT with us. Yours sincerely Wayne & Gail Martin
Peace Train & Darren Coggan at the Glass House tonight - absolutely fantastic! Loved every minute. Darren did such a wonderful job as a story teller, entertainer & musician. If you have a chance to go at some time do it!
Awesome night last night watching The Peace Train, the story of Cat Stevens as told by the incredible, talented Darren Coggan! This show is a must see Darren was awesome such an entertainer and musician. Get onto The Peace Train, you will not be disappointed!
Your Port Macquarie show was brilliant! What an amazing story teller, performer and singer you are! Never expected what you delivered last night! I have been to Yusof's last show in Aussie land - and I left the show last night on the same high! I am listening to your other CD's now - beautiful! :) Tania
First saw Darren Coggan's Peace Train at the Sydney Opera House last year, then went again to the Laycock at Gosford on Friday night - Darren could travel the world with this and sellout every time - extraordinary talent and a wonderfully uplifting experience. (p.s. I'd never even heard of Darren till I saw the show and I don't know if Steven and David have seen it, but they'd be rapt if they did).
My party of Rotarians just loved the show - I told them they would!! Thanks Daz for proving me right!! Yet another version of a great story - have loved them all :<)
I want to thank you, Darren, and all the people that helped make your show so wonderful. I really didn't want it to end. Besides the great songs you told us a lot about Cat that we never knew. I really hope you come back home again and do another show really soon. Take care. x
What an amazing show in Dubbo. It was spine tingling amazing and entertaining. That voice! that music! Such a talented performer
Please come back to Adelaide
what an outstanding performance from Daz and the band...at times people around me were reduced to tears...even grown men teared up such was the power of last nights performance...stoke up the boiler and keep the Peace Train rolling it's without doubt the best show in town...any town!
Dear Darren and Team I am not usually moved to email artists, but...I was in Brisbane for your performance last night. Cat Stevens music was a part of my childhood. I never saw Cat Stevens perform, but when I listened, it was him on stage. Uncanny! You did an amazing job and truly have a magnificent gift. Thanking you for the memories, and sharing your talents, and obvious love of music. The emergency evacuation at the start, made the evening all the more momentous. Good luck to you in all of your ventures. Thanks for letting me climb into a time capsule of great memories. Julie Boyne
The show had only just begun at the Concert Hall in Brisbane when the fire alarm sounded. We all had to evacuate the building including the band and they put on an impromptu singalong at the assembly area until we were allowed to head back in. The concert continued from where it had left off and the rest of the concert went off without a hitch ( albiet a small technical problem with an earpeice). What a concert. I closed my eyes and all I could hear was Cat Stevens himself. Darren was channeling him through his body. Man, that cat is awesome. Well done and the standing ovation was our appreciation .
Just had the immense pleasure of seeing "Peace Train" at QPAC in Brisbane tonight .. What a magical night of sublime music weaved through an intimate journey through the life of an inspirational man of peace ! The full standing ovation tonight could not even begin to express the sheer joy and happiness your audience experienced tonight ! Even the Fire Alarm and full evacuation couldn't dampen they magic ! I would LOVE to see you bring the show back to Brisbane for an Acoustic and Intimate performance at the Tivoli ... PLEASE
Thank You for a wonderful night at Lismore Darren! It's the first time I've ventured out in ages. And you inspired me to keep going and find my own truth. An amazing story about an amazing man told by and an amazing performer!
Saw the show in Byron. What an awesome night. If I shut my eyes, I could believe it was Cat on stage. Loved every minute!
Have seen the show twice already and hope to go again at the Zoo. Its absolutely fabulous, close your eyes and it could be Cat himself singing. Well done Darren look forward to seeing you again at the Zoo (lets hope it doesnt rain!)
Told through anecdotes and, of course, the unmistakable songs that serve as bookmarks of our lives, Darren Coggan delivers a most beautiful tribute imaginable to Stevens/Islam and his life. Supported tightly by The Firecats band and the delightful Simone Kay on backing vocals, Peace Train is a triumph in every way. Coggan’s voice is so similar to Stevens’ that if you closed your eyes it would be easy to imagine it was the great man himself singing. The show highlighted hits such as Another Saturday Night, Moonshadow, Father and Son and of course Morning Has Broken but also featured songs that were poignant reminders of the emptiness of fame and fortune in I Never Wanted to Be a Star. Peace Train is not just a musical experience; it is a story of understanding, tolerance and the search for meaning. Australian artist, Darren Coggan, emanated the heart and soul of an equally brilliant man. Reviewed by Darren Hassan Festival Theatre, Adelaide, 9 November 2013
Hi Darren, I don't normally do this but I just wanted to let you know how impressed and proud I felt to see your performance onstage at Tamworth Capitol Theatre. I remember interviewing you a few times in the mid 90's whilst working at 2TM and I particularly have fond memories of a special presentation to you involving the Mayor of Wagga that particular year. It was a special time and seeing you last night just brought back some great memories. My wife and I extend our best wishes to you and yours and have passed on our recommendations to family and friends to make sure they don't miss the Peace Train Tour as you travel around. Take Care and thanks for the show ... it was Bluddy Brilliant!
Hi Darren, Can I tell you a story first. My older brother David took me to my very first concert in 1972. I was 13 years old. I saw Cat Stevens. I have never forgotten that night. I saw your show in December 2009. For a brief period I closed my eyes so I could just listen to your performance and for a magical moment I was 13 again and Cat Stevens was on stage, your performance was outstanding, thank you for what you gave me that night. I had the privilege of sitting in the second row watching Yusuf when he came to Adelaide 2010, yet another fantastic night. Saturday night I returned to see you play again, this time my husband and I took friends along. We all loved your show and judging from the reaction you received so did everyone. A well deserved standing ovation. Again thank you. Hope you can come back Adelaide on day in the not too distant future. Best wishes, Barb
We attended your concert at the Festival Theatre, Adelaide last night.......congratulations and many thanks to you and also your band for a wonderful evening. From the standing ovation you received at the end of the night it certainly appeared that the whole audience enjoyed it as much as the four of us did. We look forward to hopefully seeing you perform again sometime in the not too distant future.
I was very lucky along with my partner & 2 close friends [all babyboomers} to attend the show @ the Festival Theatre last night & to relay to you we all thoroughly enjoyed it...we all learned a lot through the narrative & of course the song selection was spot on & performed so well by you & the band...a gig you should be proud of. I wish you continued success!!
The singing, music, narrative and energy just inspirational, “ringing a bell in the audience’s heart”
Thanks so much for coming back to Adelaide with Peacetrain, it was great and your talent is like a breath of fresh air. I am more fond of you each time I see you perform and right now I'm going off to listen to some of your own songs, a diversification for me truly, but I love your voice and energy. Your schedule seems very gruelling so I hope you are looking after your special self. Please don't leave it so long to come to Adelaide again, we miss you. May life bring you love, happiness and understanding, Feline Briones x
MAGIC NIGHT at the Festival Theatre, standing ovation, well deserved, thank you Darren.
I remember Cat ( Steve ) very well, in the middle 60's his brother David Gordon was my manager, & I appeared with Cat on his own TV special in Belgium, I was there when he made all his early songs...he was & still is brilliant, & you Darren, do a fantastic job of bringing him back!! Thank you. Bobby Hanna Faulds
we had the pleasure of seeing this show in Albury a couple of years ago and regretted not taking our children to see it. It was just fantastic. Come back we need your talented performance, and this time we'll take the kids for a musical history lesson for them and a trip down memory lane for my wife and I. Please try and add Albury to your busy schedule, please ,please, please. Ron Quinlivan from ALBURY, NSW
I was fortunate to be sitting in the front row of the audience at your concert last night. And enjoyed thoroughly all of your songs and connecting links through your stories -bravo fortissimo! You certainly deserved a standing ovation, in bringing Cat's songs to greater life!
A magnificent show from start to finish! Music, vocals, timing and just the right amount of theatre. I had more than one tear in my eye and feel inspired and warmed whenever I recall the evening and the music. Thank you!
Mate, you are unbelievable. Absolutely amazing. You fair dinkum blew me away with the show last night. I LOVED it. My girlfriend Lise loved it. What an outstanding performance. Thanks heaps for an awesome show mate. I can’t think of any show I enjoyed as much as that. You’re a genius.
I took my mother to see your Peace Train show at the Opera House last Friday (23/8/13) night. It was brilliant! We LOVED it! Your voice is amazing and you took us on such a wonderful musical journey. I was mesmorised with your story telling and just wanted to hear more. It was such a clever show and I’ve learned so much about Cat Stevens…. And want to learn more. Does he know that you’ve done this marvellous show? I’m sure he would be very humbled by it. Your guitar playing and the members in your band all played beautifully. Musically it was really smick! Thanks so much. Look forward to seeing what you’re doing next.
Thank you all so much for taking us on an incredible journey, of the life of the beautiful & spiritual soul that is Cat Stevens. You were all so amazing, and Darren your passion & story telling was absolutely transcending, you had the audience captivated from start to finish, I did not want it to end!
I've been trying to convince our son to learn to play guitar for several years now, without success; when we got home from the Peace Train show on Sunday he picked up a guitar and, before we had even sat down, he asked whether I could teach him how to play. I can't think of a greater endorsement for what you achieved, and I'd wager his wasn't the only soul you touched that afternoon.
Was in the audience for the final Sydney show, all I can say is WOW!!! so many memories and Darren's storytelling was an emotional joy ride. only one recommendation 'Go see It" for the first time or the 4th, i'll be back!
Saw the Sunday afternoon show at the Opera House. Loved it. Great show, top vocals and the Cats songs. Reminded me of my 20's when T for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Fire Cat were released. Darren's voice was very authentic and as good a show without the Cat as you could get. A Must see for any Cat Stevens fan.
I can't see any shows for listed forMelbourne city, only country areas? I saw the show at the Atheneum Theatre in Melbourne many years ago when it first came out and I have been waiting since for a return of this incredible show. I really hope it comes to Melbourne. The show was nothing short of brilliant and has left a big impact on me.
Excellent concert tonight in the Sydney Opera House. Standing ovation. The third time for us over a number of years. Very generous and smooth concert from Darren Coggan from the backing singers and the band, didn't miss a beat.
Playing QPAC in Brisbane on Friday Nov 29 - see you there!
We are playing Adelaide Festival Theatre on Saturday Nov 9 - see you there!
Need more shows in Sydney please!!!I am busting to see it and couldn't get tickets. What did you think? ...
Just saw you on Sunrise... smiled all the through! ... Forgot how much l love Cat.. When you Coming to Brisbane?
Love Cat Stevens and would like even more if you brought the show to Adelaide. What are the chances??????????????
I have seen this show twice in Wollongong. Darren Coggins is amazing. His story, the story of Cat Stevens, as told by him and the songs that he sings keep you spellbound for the entire show. i could watch his performance again and again. In fact, I am going to another viewing soon. I thoroughly recommend this show to everyone of all ages. Thank you Darren and your brilliant back up singers and musicians.
Hi Darren, We have seen your Peace Train twice now and simply love it and would love to see the acoustic version.......just wondering if you are going to bring it to Brisbane......if so we'll be there. Many thanks Sue Murphy
I saw this show in Perth several years ago and check this website on a regular basis in the hope it will be returning. Please Please Please come back to Perth again soon
Seen the show twice in Riverside Theatre in Parramatta and at the Opera House could watch again and again. Is there plans for a UK tour??
Darren, when are you bringing the show back to Brisbane. Loved it the first time I saw it a couple of years ago and can't wait to see it again. We even have the moon shadow bucket hats!!
Hi, My husband and I saw Darren's show yesterday afternoon at the Glasshouse Port Macquarie. It was the most fabulous show I think I've ever seen, well apart from when I saw Cat Stevens live in Sydney in the early 70's. We could have sat through it again. We've seen Darren in Tamworth at the Festival and were quite surprised to hear he was doing this show, very different from country music. Congratulations on a truly remarkable performance and performer. Jill Marriott
It was brilliant and took us back to those times in the 70s when we were at school and uni and first jobs............came away feeling so happy, met a few locals at Crescent Head today who were also there and equally blown away as we were. Thanks so much for bringing the show to our region Colleen Allen
I live in Port Macquarie and went to your Saturday arvo show. Wow!!!! I was a little skeptical of tribute shows ..you were just outstanding!!!!! I was really moved and loved the combo of narrative/song..it was a perfect balance. my husband and sister loved it too..we are mid 50s in age. The band was so professional, keyboard gal incredible and vocalist gorgeous and fantastic. Your vocals were just brilliant and my god you sounded just like him!!! Your stage presence is incredible too..the audience were really spellbound. Thank you so much for coming to Port. It was the best show I have seen at the Glasshouse...hope you like the acoustics! So thanks Darren, and if you return I will bring lots more friends!
How privileged were the Port Macquarie and local environs residents this weekend who braved the cold wet weather to be entertained by Darren and his Cat Stevens show. From the very first strum of your guitar you could feel the audience engage with warmth and smiles as all those memories of the 60's and 70's came flooding back. I had no idea about all those events of Cat's life you and your team so brilliantly portrayed to us. As we left the theatre speaking to strangers and singing to ourselves you could feel the energy you had left us with. It felt like we were heading home from a great big 70's party. Everyone was smiling as they left the theatre. Special mention must be made of the lady on keyboards, she was a star. Congratulations, it was absolutely mesmorising.
The show was amazing. I loved every minute of it. Darren, you have an amazing voice, you are extremely talened & you nailed the performance. The entire cast were fantastic, I cannot rave on enough! Loved it, loved it, loved it.
It was perfection, uncanny vocal similarity, & darren, you nailed the guitar, man thats great stuff...Cat Stevens is so harmonically complex, yet sounds so simple...the changes in 'morning has broken' for example...thats the stuff I grew up on, I love it & thanks for re-igniting the spark for me. Brilliant show - congrats to you all.
Just a quick line to let you know how amazing your Peace Train Concert was. I managed to see it 4 times and am only disappointed that it has now ended. Your performance at The Sydney Opera House was a triumph. It will remain a pleasant memory for me and my partner forever.
Most enjoyable show I have attended in a long time, memories galore. Bought the album an I play it in the car, then I flick over to Cat's album and there are times where I can't tell the difference. Keep up the good work Daz. ps. purchased your peace wrist band and it broke, where can I get another one please? Gabe
Have followed your shows prior to peacetrain and your getting better just like good wine.... The Cat Stevens Peacetrain tribute shows are great - keep up the good work, hope you and band return to western sydney soon.
I bought my mum and we saw your show this weekend. We LOVED it so much, I bought your album of the show and have listened to it all day! It was my mums Christmas present and she said it was the best present she has ever had!!! Big praise from her... So thank you so much, I am so glad that I got to meet you and could tell people you are just as nice as you seem in the show!! It was a great pleasure for me and I wanted to let you know Happy summer
Hi Darren The show was great. My 9 year year old daughter and I loved it, beautifully sung, a great band and a great story. I didn't realise that I knew so many Cat Stevens songs! All sung with feeling and respect to the man. Thanks
I have just returned home following the Mount Gambier performance and I am gob smacked. What a show, what a star, what a superb voice! I had no idea who the lead was and didn't even know his name, but now I am a fan and hooked. Loved it, top stuff. All put together very well, both the story and all on stage and beyond.
Just back from seeing Darren play Tanunda..WOW..Took my eldest daughter to see him last year at the Festival theatre...This time it was all four kids plus my Father. We all have some amazing memories to share now.. Darren and band...Thank you so very much again. A tear was in the eye (Again) when father and son was played. Goodonya mate for doing this amazing show...DON'T EVER STOP.
This is the best show I've seen in years!Darren Coggan & the band's beautiful interpretations of Cat's timeless songs coupled with the fascinating story of his life make for a joyous & utterly captivating evening. To call this merely a "Tribute Show" doesn't seem to do it justice, its more like a celebration of Peace & Hope expressed through music.See this show & you will leave with a lump in your throat & a song in your heart.
that was brilliant. all of you are extremelly talented individuals :) what fantastic music and was totally captivated by your story which was great to learn so much about someone we have grown up with, funny how you can love someones music but never know much about them as an individual, thankyou now his music will tell a real story!( which i have been humming all day!) what a great mix of people and ages all leaving with smiles x also front row seats was a bit special x you all rock thanks heaps!
Wow! what a great night! That would have to be one of the best live performances I have seen for awhile. I had my doubts as I didn't think there would be anyone out there that could sound like Cat Stevens, what a shock there is! The Cat Stevens story was told in a great way and of course we got to listen to his music again. I hope that people seeing this will add his ways to theirs and hopefully help towards our world becoming a better place and looking after our earth. Thanks for a wonderful concert and a great night out.
The show was absolutely fantastic and we loved every minute of it. I would go and see it again in an instant.
Peace train and Darren Coggan rates with me as the best performance seen at the Chaffey theatre over many years. A great talent and absolutely entertaining show. Keep up the good work.
Cat Stevens Tribute was Totally Brilliant.. Loved the music before and now even got to understand those songs that never quite made any sense to me. Put them altogether with his life story and "ShaZaM" they all have a huge significance to his life's travel and I bet to a lot of followers . I appreciate his work all the more. Sum it up in One word "BRILLIANT" 10 minutes of Standing Ovation the clapping went on and on… This time the Cast was clearly not Impersonators just delivered and told his story that made the night just Devine close your eyes you see the real thing… appeared like a true Moon Shadow again Brilliant can’t describe it any other way
Just saw the show in Port Lincoln tonight - what a brilliant, polished performance by all the stars involved, and you were all stars. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and learned much more about Cat Stevens than I ever knew. Bravo, what a fun, emotional, trip down memory lane kinda show, thankyou.
Call me a "groupie" a "deciple" or simply a "follower". I care not which title you place upon me for I am a fan forever more. Ive seen your performances at Parramatta Riverside Theatre, The Sydney Opera House, Joan Sutherland Centre Penrith and the Laycock Theatre in Gosford. I have travelled far and wide and am only dissappointed that my "Peace Train" journey has now ended. Your portrayal of "The Cat" is life changing. My unending gratitude to Darren, Naomi and the entire cast. I will follow your future adventures with great enthusiasm. Please dont make us wait too long.
Our staff room and classrooms have been abuzz this morning with recounts of last night’s “Peace Train” experience at the Chaffey Theatre. Our school group comprised the youngest members of the audience who were some of the first on their feet to give Darren Coggan and Co. a standing ovation – each of them with hands held high forming peace signs in his honour. I know they felt quite special when Darren looked up and acknowledged their enthusiasm for his outstanding performance. Prior to the show most of the students knew little of Cat Stevens other than having a few of his songs on their ipods and a couple who recounted parents’ comments like “oh, he was a hippy in our day”. Darren not only took them on the rollercoaster ride of the Cat Stevens journey but also gave them an insight into the boarder picture, touching on the evolution of music styles from his early Soho days until now. The story interwoven with songs reflecting the position and the mood of the man was nothing short of inspiring; a sensational evening of entertainment. Cat Steven’s music has been reverberating from our classrooms this morning; I only hope his message of peace has been equally taken on board by these young people to whom we will entrust the world!
Thank you Darren and Co for such a fantastic performance. We just loved the story telling woven into Cats songs. We never saw Cat Stevens in concert and this is the closest we'll ever get. Thank you for your telling tribute to one of the best singer song writers we'll ever see. Can't wait for you to tour Brisbane again we would love to take our sons as they are huge fans. Thanks for keeping the memories may they continue for years to come.
Visiting Ausralia from London I was given a ticket for Peace train, the show was awesome, had only been in Australia a few days but all symptoms of Jet Lag dissappeared as soon as the show began. Heading back to London now, are there any plans to bring the show to the UK? Would love to see it again. Got to be one of the best (if not thee best) production I have seen.
Went to the show this afternoon. Absolutely AWESOME in every way and loved every second of it. Brilliant Darren and team, I didn't want it to end. Loved the story telling, the songs and your voice and guitar playing even more. Cat's amazing songs brought back so many memories. Thanks Darren for making my day. Also thanks to your backing girls and guys - also wonderful. Keep up the great work and I look forward to being entertained again some time soon.
I had such a wonderful night tonight listening to all those songs - I knew all the words without remembering that I knew them! The music brought back memories of hippy days in the sun and learning (and not succeeding!) to play the guitar. How did you remember all that - it was really interesting hearing Cat's story. Anyway thanks for a truly wonderful experience. You were great!
We loved every second of it. Personally, it was an amazing 'book mark' in my life. Cat Stevens was such a big part of my musical experience and I was totally transfixed by your performance. Your voice and guitar playing are fantastic! Thank you for the journey you so skillfully took us on!!
This is just such a great show! Darren is so talented and has such passion. I was transported back to the UK in the 60's where I was living at the time and was singing along (quietly) to all the songs. The singing, music, narrative and energy just sweep you up and you're with the show the whole way. Loved it, loved it!
Went to the show at the Sydney Recital Hall recently. An inspirational & educational experience.
Loved the show at Glen Street. It just went from strength to strength. Loved Darren's performance and the band and is awesome. Great sounds - didn't want it to end!! Congrats.
I saw Peace Train tonight at the Glen St Theatre. It took me back to being 16 and sitting in the Hordern Pavillion in the 70's seeing Cat Stevens. If you closed your eyes it was like hearing Cat Stevens again. I loved the way the songs and the story were interwoven. Thank you for a great night's entertainment!
Darren Coggan is an extremely gifted performer. His show last night was such an uplifting emotional and spiritual experience - hearing all those wonderful Cat Stevens songs made me feel like I was 21 again!
Great show, took the whole family, loved it, now want the T shirt!
Went to the Queanbeyan show on Thursday night, having previously seen Peace Train in Canberra Theatre a few years ago, it was fantastic and we were filled with even more joy at this performance. We've been listening to the CD now for three days. Congratulations to Darren and his crew for a wonderful experience! Come back soon.
Saw the show last night in Gosford, NSW - brilliant! Darren resembles Cat Stevens and he sure sounds like him! Growing up with these songs takes me back to some great times. Darren, the girls and the band were great!
Just saw the show in Queanbeyan. Sensational. You've nailed his vocal sound and mannerisms and the narration is great. And the band is hot! Well done.
I was left with cold shivers. This show just put it all together in a way I have not experienced before, and I have seen a bit of live production in my time. Darren, your rendering of one of the most distinct vocal sylists of all time was mind-boggling, your band were tight and organised, your gorgeous backup singers were era-perfect and highly talented individual components of a whole; and the entire production put together was one of the most fluid langorous cosmic rides around. My God, this will tour longer than Les Mis! My congratulations is all I have and you guys can have it all! I would have written this post show last night (The Q, NSW) but was left without words.
Darren I saw the show several years ago at the Canberra Theatre and took 5 work colleagues to The Q at Queanbeyan last night. I wasn't going to miss the opportunity to see your fabulous show again. All my friends loved it and I was interested to see the changes you have made - presumably since you met the great man himself. Brilliant show. Keep the Peace Train rolling.
Absolutely brilliant! Darren Coggan is so talented. The show was fabulous!
The Sydney show at the City Recital Hall was fantastic. Thanks for bringing back some great memories and a lot of joy. Your band are an amazingly talented group of musicians that play well together. I especially loved your drummer - he was brilliant. Thank you.
Went to see Peace Train in Penrith last weekend. Absolutely brilliant performance. Some of the songs were so true to the originals, I had the hairs standing on the back of my neck. I think you could take this show on the road internationally. Well done Darren and all the band (including backing singers). Was surprised not to see Dale Allison on lead guitar but your new guitarist did a great job. Would recommend this show to anyone who loves Cat Stevens. Will see it again for sure.
Just returned home from the show at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre. I am so impressed, but what especially impressed me were the 2 back-up singers, they were awesome!
Just loved the show at the Q in Penrith on Friday night. You and your band were perfect. We were blown away, and I want to go again. Thank you so much for such wonderful memories. Paul and Carol
I just got home from your Peace Train show at the Joan Sutherland Centre in Penrith. I just wanted to say that I loved it! You and the band were just fantastic. I wished it could have gone on for longer! Sadly, I am only 24 and so Cat had already stopped performing well before I was born. My love of his music was passed down from my parents who were constantly playing his records and CDs. It has always saddend me that I haven't gotten to see the man himself perform, but your show was so brilliant that I felt like he ws there! You have helped bring my dream of seeing him perform live a bit more to life. I just wanted to say thank you to yourself and the other performers for putting on such a great show! You really made my night! Thanks again. James
Just a quick note to say thank you to you and your band for a brilliant night out! After the show, on the way home, we spoke about what we liked from the performance but moreso spoke of the story you told. Cat Stevens was/is an amazing talent and a man of unique character, which you brought to life beautifully... I am also inclined to get an English version Koran. You reminded us of the value of taking the time to seek answers and meaning. Thanks again and hope you get as much from sharing the story as we do from hearing it. All the best Ken
You gotta come to the U.S.A.! You guys sound great. When can we expect you over here?
Dear Darren I was never a great Cat Stevens fan but his music was still part of my life in the 60's and 70's. Last night my wife and I, with a group of five friends who were great fans of the man, attended your show. We were stunned at your talents and you absolutely entertained us in a very moving way. I'm a showbusiness cretin but I'm still amazed that I have never heard of you before. Please accept our heartfelt gratitude for adding a wonderful moment to our lives; a moment that we will all talk about as a moving and uplifting experience. Please, please also pass on our deepest appreciation of the talents of everyone else on stage; the two beautiful ladies singing in the background and reflecting the rhythm of the music with their movements and the brilliant band of musicians who evidenced great experience. We were entranced. You mentioned in the show about "ringing a bell in the audience's heart". Mate, you started up a carillon in mine. Thank You. Yusef Islam must be quite a man to inspire you to such brilliance. Warmest regards Geoff Brennan
Hi Darren, We just returned home after spending the night with you at Angel Place in Sydney. I cannot believe how fantastic you were. Sorry but we had not heard about you. Obviously have to look out for you with your amazing talent. The show was so classy , so first class. I just didn't want it to end. I can't wait to tell my family and friends tomorrow to go and see" Peace Train". So moving and so much fun. A big thank you and yes we have a Cat Stevens record somewhere in the garage which I will find tomorrow. All the best Diana Earle
Had a great night out in Tamworth; excellent production with terrific stage management, instrument changes, music woven around the story - and of course fantastic vocals. Shall have to find the old LPs and relive the music again. Recommended for all ages and musical tastes.
Saw the show in Tamworth last Friday night, travelled from Armidale to see it. Absolutely brillant and inspiring. Darren, you and your team should feel proud. A top notch quality show, great music and the story interwoven beautifully, my advice to people is if you see this reviewed or hear Darren promoting it on the radio, GET A TICKET AND GO GO GO!!!!!
saw the show in Dubbo last night. Professional presentaion and very entertaining. Coverage of " Cats " live interwoven with his work made for a very good show. Recommended to any who enjoy " TheCat" Good work
Passionate, energetic...brilliant show. Close your eyes and you could be listening to Cat Stevens. Darren, you've done a fantastic job and you all should be so proud of what you've achieved with the show. Highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. Excellent.
My wife and I saw the show last night in Caloundra at the events centre which I am the chairman of. I have to say it is by far the best tribute show I have ever seen. It is incredibly close to the real thing and we both thought the narrative was well placed and tied the show together beautifully. I think the thing that struck me most apart from the ability of all involved was Darren was not trying to be Cat he was telling the story of Cat and did it beautifully. In fact I was incredibly moved during parts of the show and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a performance they will remember, thank you. Ashley Robinson Events Center Caloundra.
Caloundra Events Centre - Darren Coggan presented an incredibly moving experience recounting the life story of Cat Stevens. he took us on a very personal journey of his life hopes and thoughts. His vocal performance was hauntingly similar and when closing your eyes it wasn't hard to imagine it was Cat Stevens himself performing. A brilliant performance from Darren and his backing musicians... an awsome night.. thank you so much for sharing it
I was fortunate enough to see the show in Rockhampton. I was enthralled and entertained from start to finish...... couldn't wipe the smile from my face. Love to see it again sometime in the near future
A very exciting show that kept the audience enthralled throughout. Darren's voice is remarkably like that of Cat Stevens and with a live and energetic band the music filled the theatre and brought back a lot of good memories. Intertwined with the music was the story of Cat Stevens' three lives, told inside the music rather than as well as it.
Saw the show on Saturday night in Geraldton. As a fan of Cat/Yousuf for many years I was not disappointed. Darren and the band took me back 30 years with the music/story of Cat Stevens. A wonderful performance paying tribute to one of the worlds best singer/songwriters. Great choice of songs and perfect arrangements - this was not so much a tribute but a testimonial!
Thanks Guys, you were amazing with such talent. We loved the way you turned everything into life and made your performance a journey of discovery with the great man. The show was fantastic in Bunbury WA tonight 17 August 2010. Very Very talented performers. Thanks again for a wonderful night.
Hi , I just want to say you guys have put on a great enteraining show, We saw you last sat 3/7/2010 In Wagga Wagga. I apreiciate the work and research you have put in to tell this story of a living legend. Thanks Darren & gang. AAA show.
Darren - thank you for bringing "Peace Train" to Wagga again. It was great to watch you perform the songs that obviously meant a lot to you. Your research was impeccable and the stories of Cat Stevens life and the way you wove the songs around them was pure magic. Can't wait to see it again!
Please come back to Tassie!!! Last show was unforgetable!!!
fantastic show, went to the one in melbourne at the arts centre. Going to see Yusif himself at Melbourne park on the 16th. Enjoyed Darren and co show so much will probably go again to the show in Ballarat in November and bring some friends along. Thank you!
Saw the show in Melbourne and loved it, loved it loved it - what a joy to have such talent to call our own. I want to get some tickets for my parents when you tour to Caloundra in Queensland on the 15 Sept, am having trouble finding the show in Caloundra - has this date been confirmed and if not when will that be? Thank you
This show is fantastic! In fact, it's one of the best I have ever seen and can't wait to see it again in October this year. Already have my front row tickets! I grew up with Cat Stevens music but the show (and story) is so good everyone from every age group would love it I am sure.
My Husband & I saw the Peace Train show last night & absolutly loved it. Darren, the band & girls are fantastic. Could have sat again & watched it again & again. If you closed your eyes you would think that you were listening to Cat Stevens himself. Keep up the great work Darren Loveed it loved it loved it.
Saw the show in Melbourne last night wish i could go again tonight it was fantastic. Well done all of you
WOW! I turned up to this show having no idea who Darren Caggan was let alone what the show was going to be like. I left after being blown away by his skill as a muscician, his obvious talent as asinger, the depth and understanding he had of Cat Stevens and ability to communicate with the audience. This show will go down as a highlight in my life. I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to witness sucha wonderful performance. I just loved it!
Melbourne 23rd April 2010 Outstanding, wonderful...........you may have been singing Cat Stevens songs and sound quite like him; but you have a unique wonderful voice. The band, the backup and arrangments excellent. Great show, congratulations and please - love to see a tour with your own songs sometime too!
My wife and I have just returned from the Melbourne show and we were blown away with the whole production. Presentation, brilliant, music so authentic and the memories of the great singer Cat Stevens just flowed back. We both knew the words to every song and loved the show. So many more of our friends didnt know about the show and couldnt get tickets. The only dissapointment is that there is only one show in Melbourne. Why!! We would go again tomorrow if we had the chance. Thank you for a supurb night of music and memories.
I saw the show with my wife in Sidney and it was absolutely wonderful. We could have stayed there listening to Darren Coggan and his band all night long: they know how to entertain an audience. The voice of Darren really brings back that of Cat Stevens. I hope you perform in Switzerland once in the future! All the best!
Would love to see this show in Sydney - missed the Jan 2 event :o( Please run more.
My husband and I attended your Sydney Opera House concert last week...we absolutely loved it. We are from Seattle Washington USA and would love you to come here! Let us know! We'll come to hear you again! Not only your voice, your professionalism, but also your guitar expertise...fabulous.
Fantastic , special performance at the Opera house on the 2nd January 2010 We didn't want the show to end and enjoyed every song delivered imaccualately by Darren and all the group Thank you and we look forward to seeing you again at the Glen Street theatre in October
Hi - my Nana and Poppy went to see this show and they said it was amazing! I missed out on tickets and was wondering if you are going to do another show this year in Perth. I am a big Cat Stevens fan and so is my Dad - I would love to take him. Thanks! Melanie.
What a fantastic show, we saw it in Parramatta earlier this year and really enjoyed it, when we had overseas visitors at Christmas time we had to book for the Opera House enjoyed it even more. As a child of the sixties/seventies and always a fan of Cat my life like a lot of others has been punctuated by his songs both happy and sad times. Well done a show I would definetly go to again and again.
Hadn't even heard of Darren Coggan until about 11pm Christmas Day 2009 when I opened my gift from my husband - 2 tickets to Peace Train at Sydney Opera House on 2 Jan 2010. Was really looking forward to it and was not disappointed. In fact, was totally in raptures. Close your eyes and you think you're listening to the Cat himself. A fantastic show with real talent from all involved. Do not miss an opportunity to see Peace Train if you are a Cat Stevens fan.
One of the best shows I have seen. Didn't want it to end. Best money I have ever spent on a show, would definately see again. FANTASTIC!
Opera House 2nd Jan 2010 - A fantastic show and the most enjoyable one for me personally in a very long time. Thanks to you Darren, Naomi and all those good folk involved for bringing this great show together. Best regards from a past acquaintence.
My husband and I took a trip down memory lane last night at the Peacetrain concert in the Sydney Opera House. This was so much more than a night of nostalgia. It was great to hear all the Cat's wonderful music interpreted with so much integrity and enthusiasm, but what a revelation it was to hear Darren's terrific, rich voice. Our Cat Stevens LPs are being dusted off as I write, and we look forward to hearing a whole lot more from this very talented performer and his hardworking band. Particular kudos to the keyboard/accordion player. Girl, you earned your supper last night!
Absolutely amazing.I'm old enough to remember Cat Steven's music. I really loved it and as Darren said evoked lots of wonderf ul memories. Keep doing it!
Still waiting and watching for Darren's Peace Train to be in Melbourne. We saw Moonshadows a couple of years back and Darren is so so good, we wait for the tour with anticipation
Please, please, PLEASE have another Cat show in Melbourne, I have seen you twice now - once in Melb. & then traveled to see you in Sydney. Need to take my husband to see your performance, he is madly jealous!
After hearing Darren's interview on local radio, I had to get tickets for the show in Adelaide - he had such a compelling story to tell and a surprising vocal likeness to Cat Stevens. The show was even better than I expected - amazing songs (of course!) , and a fantastic musical production in all aspects. Darren has immense charisma as 'Cat', (which may indeed be his own, or he is just a great actor!) and a remarkable voice. "Thank you" to all the Peace Train Team.
What a memorable night!! Although Darren sounded just like Cat Stevens, the songs were not exact replicas of the originals. Some were interspersed with dialogue which forced the listener to make connections between the songs and Cat's life. The arrangements/orchestration differed just enough to make the experience new for those who were lucky enough to have seen a Cat Stevens' concert. The ensemble playing was excellent and the Festival Theatre (Adelaide) acoustics were unbelievable. We thoroughly enjoyed the concert and would love to see it again. We purchased the Peace Train CD and have not stopped playing it yet. Bravo, Darren- a true slice of hippy heaven.
Amazing Adelaide show. My Daughters first ever concert. Thank you so much Darren for a truly amazing night that both Sarah-Rose and I will not forget for a long time. Peace.
My Husband and i recently went to see PEACE TRAIN (The Cat Stevens Story) Starring Darren Coggan, and the Crew members On Saturday 5th December 09 in Adelaide Festival Theatre and we thought you were all absolutely brilliant,The Show was Excellent, love it,love it, loved it we'd love to see it again and again hopefully there will be more tour dates for Adelaide again in the year 2010.Fantastic it makes me feel very emotional deep inside my heart, Thank-you.
Absolutely Awesome Darren is a very talented performer and sounds exactly like Cat Stevens!! Its a must see. Please come back to Adelaide
We saw you last night in Adelaide and what an absolutely fantastic, brilliant night! One of the best concerts / shows I have ever seen This has to be on everyone's "bucket" list... Thank you for your gift and giving us a greater insight into the life of Cat. We've bought a couple of your CDs so we can relive the night again and again Yours in awe Kim
What an absolutely fantastic show. Just returned home from Festival center in Adelaide and loved every minute of "Cat's" performance. We saw you and Adam Brand at a western show at the Adelaide Showgrounds approx. 20 years ago - this is a real change of direction for you Darren - but a definite winner. We will be encouraging all our friends and family to experience your expertise in bringing Cat Stevens to the stage - congratulations Darren.
I would love to see this show as do my friends, but alas it is only on one night in Adelaide - 5th Dec. Did the promoters not know that there is a Day on the Green concert in Barossa Valley that same day/night?? Will there be other shows in Adelaide soon? I hope so....
Hi Darrin, We have no plans to come to Melbourne at this stage. Hopefully next year. Phil
Saw the show at Burswood in Perth. Absolutely exciting sounds of voice and band. Quality performance full of energy and entertainment. Congratulations to all concerned fantastic spectacle.
I went and saw the show at Burswood last night and have to say that watching Darren's performance was an absolute privilage. I have always been a fan of Cat Steven's but his voice took the music to a whole new level. It is marvellous to see a brilliant Aussie talent sing so magically and tell a story so consummately. Thanks so much for a truly amazing experience. I could have listened all night.
I saw the show in Perth last night and would like to communictae that any performer that can get a Perth audience on their feet is a true entertainer. Darren is a prodigious talent whose future is assured. I have not seen a better individual performance in 63 years. Please come back asap in whatever context .
I took my partner and his parents to see the show at QPAC in Brisbane and we were all blown away by it. It's a learning experience as well as an inspiring one. Darren Coggan's passion for the subject really shows. Would definitely see this again and I'm hoping a DVD will be released because I can't wait to buy a copy! Thanks Darren and the team.
hi i watched the show last night at the burswood complex it was fantastic the band is brilliant and the ending was the best i have ever seen ..i just wanted to hear more and more ,,,cat stevens is by far the best singer song writer by far ..he is god himself
Just saw it at Burswood Theatre Perth. There aren't enough superlatives to describe what a totally awesome show this is and what an amazing talent Darren & company truly are. I've been a Cat Stevens fan for 40 years. I don't go to see tribute bands but something "told me" this was not going to be a tribute band, it certainly wasn't. It was as if I was watching and listening to the real thing. The power and passion in Darren's voice and performance was something I've rarely seen and I go to all concerts. I've seen almost every performer from the 70's, and what few performers there were from the 80's, and this show rates up there with the biggies, Deep Purple, Status Quo, Don McLean, The Who, Rod Stewart, David Bowie etc. And SO proud that this guy is an Aussie. What a talent. What an amazing talent. Thank you Darren for a spectacular show. I'm listening to your CD now and it's 1.30am, but I can't turn it off. I'd go to see the show again if I could but wll definitely follow Darren's career. Please Darren come back to the West again.
Just back from the show, wanted to say thank you! I was amazed and mesmerised, what a fabulous show! I am such a Cat Stevens fan, and tonight for a while I was 16 again!! Well done! Fantastic!
Wow, wow, wow!!! What a great performance. I'm in my 20's and went along with the "oldies" to the Brisbane show after hearing how they grew up listening to Cats amazing talent. Now I too am a Cat fan..... and a Darren Coggan fan. What an amazing, uplifting performance, It was great to be sitting in the audience as a 'newbie' Cat fan and just loving the experience! Come back to Brisbane please, I wanna see it all over again!
We went to the Saturday night show in Brisbane on the 10th October and had a front row seat. The show was fantastic the songs and music were even better and most of all it would have to be one of the best shows we have ever seen. Hope you return to Brisbane in the near furture. WOW. Thank you.
Saw the show in Brisbane last night and was absolutely mesmerised by the quality of the talent, Darren and the superb musicians and back up singers. I am a huge Cat Stevens fan and was facinated by the story and the beautifully interwoven story of Cat Stevs life. I was the first up on my feet to give a well deserved standing ovation to the group. Congratualtions. Would kill to see the show again and take my family. Thanks for the memories. Kim
We went last night to the Brisbane concert..not knowing what to expect..your show was simply sublime and blew us away. We closed our eyes at times and Cat Stevens was there in the room singing just for us....The Concert Hall venue was befitting such a magnificent performance. Do yourselves a favour......take the punt and take your show to the world. Everybody needs to be taken away to unexpected wonderous places....in their lives..... we feel priveleged that we journeyed with you to such a place. Darren and all the cast and crew.......thank you..thank you...thank you.
we saw the show last night in brisbane - darren coggan is absolutely amazing. Was not that big a cat steven's fan, but darren has put the man in a new light to me. Fantastic, go see it, a great night of music and story telling!!!
What an awesome show! One of the best! The show was informative, authentic and respectful. If I closed my eyes, I could hear the real Cat Stevens- the likeness is remarkable. The back up band and vocals were exceptionally talented and professional. Congratulations! When you return to Brisbane, please offer a matinee, so that we can take our sons, 11 & 14, who are musicians and are the next generation to grow up with Cat Stevens. Thank you.
We saw your show last night at Brisbane Concert Hall and what a fantastic night it was. Cat Stevens music was very special in my life when my husband and I first met and my children grew up listening to his music, and now my son is off to Dublin Ireland in November to see one of Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam's concerts. He is so excited but after being at your concert last night I felt I was at a Cat Stevens concert you sound just like him. Thank you Darren and band for such an emotional night. If we get the chance we will see it again. Loved it so much. Karen & Graham
Saw your show last night - fantastic! Was v.hard to sit still and keep quiet - found myself wishing I was one of the back up singers so that I could be singing along and dancing too.
Daz your show in Brisbane (9/10/09) was outstanding. You delivered a performance as only a master musician could. The passion and feeling with which you sang the songs was outstanding and was equally matched by the well delivered and timely narrative about Cat that was so cleverly interwoven into the show. Your show deserves every accolade it recieves, it would surely play to packed houses in London's 'West End' and I hope you achieve this. As a Cat Stevens fan since the halcyon days of the 70's and having seen Cat perform live I know you've hit the mark with 'Peace Train'. I, along with a full house at QPAC stood to applaude the magical performance delivered by you and your band of very talented musicians. Well done mate, stoke the boilers and keep the 'Peace Train' rolling. Lionel Aitken ~ President, Island Time Fundraising Events.
I saw Peace Train last night in Brisbane, I took my 17 year old son Jake with me and we both loved it. Jake didn't know much about Cat or his music but he's a a fan now.Darren is a fantastic performer and what a band , the keyboard player Naomi in particular is absolutely brilliant. Loved it !! Thanks for a great show. Alan & Jake A.
We were fortunate enough to sit close to the stage in the Brisbane Peace Train audience last night and Cat (I mean Darren) had us totally mesmerised with his likeness and 'pure Cat' voice. The show was magic, talent of Darren and the band astounding, we didn't want it to end. We bought the CD and played it all the way home and woke up humming the songs this morning. They brought back many memories and for just a little while we felt young again. Thankyou!!
What an amazing piece of art this show is. On the way there I thought to my self "Do I really know many Cat Stephens songs?' By the end of the show I realised that not only did I know all of them, but tonight I had expereienced them as though it were the real thing. A totally spellbinding performance by Darren Coggan. One not to be missed!!
It takes a lot to get the audiences at City Recital Hall on their feet. At Peace Train I witnessed a standing ovation complete with cheering! The audience response was over-whelming and as a result, we're presenting Peace Train again in September next year. It's a brilliant show and you don't have to be a Cat Steven's fan to enjoy it. I loved it! Bronwyn Edinger, General Manager, City Recital Hall Angel Place.
Bring it on! We cannot wait to see the Peacetrain show. When can we expect some tour dates? Darren recently supported a "drought" concert held at our town in Coolamon NSW. Darrens performance and that of his band still has people talking in the town some weeks later. The crowd consisted of people aged from 8 to 80.Darren donated over $500 in cd sales on the night to assist us in raising $9,000 in monies to be donated to the Riverina cancer council. Darren Coggan your a legend!
Attended The Peace Train show in Wagga last night. Simply fantastic. What a show.Cats music has stood the test of time, and the message in the songs has never been more relevant. I have 3 boys aged between 9 and 16 and they will be there next week to experience this show! Darren Coggan and band are bloody fantastic. What a talent. This show is international quality. All the best Daz,with the tour.
Saw the show in Wollongong yesterday and was completely blown away. The standing ovation was the result of an excellent and thoroughly enjoyable show. Well done to all involved.
Darren , band and crew I saw your show on saturday night 8th november 08, in Wollongong. I could not stop smiling, singing along with you, remeniscing, where I was and what was happpening in my life when Cats amazing songs graced the charts. You had me caught on your every word and note, I went from goosebumps to a lump in my throat. You brought out every emotion in me, I was captivated and couldn,t wait to tell my friends. It truely was an amazing performance, and a fitting tribute to the great Cat Stevens. Please, please honor us with another performance again in Wollongong soon. Thankyou to you all for a wonderful evening. I loved it, loved it, loved it, LOVED IT :o) Warmest regards Pauline.
We went to the concert in Wollongong last Saturday night, WOW!! what a show. Two hours of tears and goosebumps. Thankyou Darren Coggan (and band) for telling the Cat Stevens story through his music, you truly are a gifted performer who sounds almost identical to the great man himself. We thank you for bringing all those wonderful songs to life again - can't wait to see it again. Liz and Ken

Just got home from seeing your Show - Peace Train - The Cat Stevens Story. Wow! it was great. We all had a really fantastic time. We had forgotten how much we loved Cat Stevens when we were kids and we really enjoyed hearing all his great hits performed to perfection by your good self. The narration was brilliant and was the music. Congratulations Darren and thanks for a truly great night. Regards Alex and Gail Apps
Hi Darren & Band, Just a quick note to say Hi & a big THANKYOU!! Having listened too you on Saturday Night Country I was absolutley awestruck!! What a fantastic voice you have! It gave me goosebumps then & there... in the middle of a hot summer night!! Wishing you all the best, a very merry Christmas & a fantastic & Successfull New Year! I personally would love to see Peace Train come to WA, but I will be heading over east shortly, so will catch a show in 2009. Congratulations again & just keep on strumming!!! Cheers Mate!
Darren, saw the show in Albury last night and absolutely loved it. It was clear from your performance that you were passionate about Cat the man and his music. The show was very professional and polished and we also loved the other musicians. It was hard to take your eyes off the girls also, they were captivating and looked fantastic. I also loved Cat's music and it was good to get a bit of an update on his life since. Loved your comment about songs being a bookmark in our life. Its so true. It brings back a flood of good memories. Well done all of you!!!
Thankyou Darren and The Fire Cats!! you absolutely blew me away with your show at the Albury Performing Arts Centre on Wednesday night. My husband and I loved it, I will recommend it to everyone. PS, My sister in Canberra has pleaded for you to do the show there so she can enjoy it ( full on Cat fan) Lesley and Paul
I caught the show at Bathurst. Thank you Darren, the show brought back a lot of memories for me. Nearly every song took me back to my youth. Peace Train is definitely a show I would go and see again. All the best Jeff
Hiya Daddy Daz! Love the website! Can't wait to see the show. Hopefully we will see you on The Footy Show this year! Cinz xx
Hi Darren, We saw your show in Orange last Saturday evening. What a fantastic time we had. Your talent is unbelievable and you sound so much like Cat Stevens. We had forgotten how much we loved those timeless songs. It was great to see all of the young people enjoying the show as well. Please come back to Orange soon
Hi Darren, I attended your concert last evening at the Parramatta Riverside Theatre and just had to tell you that I was truely amazed. Where have you been hiding? Ive always been a Cat Stevens fan and hoped your concert would do him justice. Id did far more than that. I feel I have rediscovered "The Cat" all over again. I purchased your CD and sang along all the way home. I would love to have it autographed one day. I am 53 years old and have seen more concerts in my lifetime that I care to remember. Simply put, your "Peace Train" concert is THE BEST concert I have EVER seen. I hope your bookings are plentyful so I can again one day see your performance of a lifetime. Dont miss this anyone. Words cannot do this concert justice. Many many thanks and best wishes Gaz.
Hi Darren, My wife and I saw your show last night at Riverside Theatres – Parramatta and I have to share this with you. In 1971 I was 14 and met my first girl friend. When we met Cat Stevens’ Tea For the Tillerman was playing on my stereo. 5 years later we were married and almost 33 years later we are sitting watching you pay tribute to Cat Stevens. As you could understand Cat Stevens has always held a special place in my heart and last night I must admit I shed a tear or two. Knowing I will never see the real thing your show came as close as I could hope to expect. The band were sensational and it’s obvious you love Cat Stevens’ music, keep up the great work and we will definitely be along to see you again. Peace to you! Greg Morris.
My husband and I saw your show last night (12 March) at Parramatta Riverside. We absolutely loved it. Darren, your enthusiasm for the information, the role and the songs was absolutely wonderful. We left the show on a high from the experience. Then today, in my local Woolies, what was playing on their in-house music but Cat Stevens. Now, I can't get the damm song out of my head. Very tempted to go back to the show again, but have to be realistic as money and time don't allow. Keep up the good work.
I went to see Peace Train recently in Devonport. I compliment you Darren and Band members on getting to songs near perfect. Lovely to listen too and I was surprised by Longer Boats, as I am sure I have not heard that one for 35 years (knew it tho!) My state of mind when leaving the concert was "Although it was intriguing and authentic in a musical sense, I felt that Darren's performance was not believable - not a gentle portrayal, not with emotional feeling" I can't explain anymore. It was done ABOUT Cat, but a bit like discussing an inate object. Not embracing. Needed more gorgeous 60's and 70's art work as backdrops too.
We have just seen your show in Paramatta and loved it! What a fabulous journey of songs. We hope you take your tour abroad as there will be people all over the world who would love to reminiss and hear Cat Steven's songs again.
Hi Darren We saw your show last night at Angel place and thought it was outstounding !!!!! . You are so talented and so generous in giving to your audience . Thanks for a most memorable experience and I hope others get the pleasure of your wonderful style
A fantastic performance at Angel Place on Friday night (April 17) - absolutely sensational. Cat Stevens is one of my all time favourites and your homage to him and his music was a triumph. When's the encore?
Your struggling guitar class took in your overwhelming Saturday night show at the City Recital Hall. As a first concert for Linden & Hayden, it will be a hard act to follow. Once again Darren, it was sensational. Thanks.
When the next performance ???
I recently went to your Show in Sydney (at the Recital Hall) and thought you were absolutely brilliant. The show was fantastic and I'd love to see it again - hopefully there will be more tour dates for Sydney soon!
This was in no way a simple tribute concert, Coggan and his band connected with the audience and allowed them to be part of a trip down memory lane. Much of the success of this show was due primarily to Coggan himself. His voice in both tone and timbre was so like the great man’s that many believed that Cat Stevens was in the house last night....for those lovers of Cat Stevens, get on the train - you won't be disappointed.
The show is fantastic. Darren Coggan is brilliant. I have been to the show twice and will go again, its amazing. I went with a friend to see the show even though I never knew who Cat Stevens was or knew any of his songs. Now I'm a huge fan of the Show and the Peace Train CD. The songs resonate with any generation and the story of Cats life is full of intrigue. Well done.
